I contemplate you

The beat of your drum cascading through my ears

Two bodies beating as one

Found again

Through the ebb and flow

Of life

I heard the sound

A hope that

Once again

We would walk this path together

My eyes call to you in a desert dream

Connecting

Under the stars

A deep yearning

For you to rise

meet me on the bridge

In the sky

Where I stand alone

Waiting

For someone like you

You did

for a moment

and then

left.

Too soon...

Silenced the sound

You shut me out

A crack within, you could not fill with love

Became walls of arrogance and ego

Suddenly what was so close

Became ice

stone

armor

Seemed safer at the time

Lessons not yet learned

In this lifetime

And perhaps will not be learned

Put back on the shelf of your soul

For the next time around

If and when

we meet again

You may have learned

For now

I walk alone

I remain

unattached.

The pace of life

Grows faster

Than I can pick up all the pieces

From you

And those that came before you

Pieces of me

I leave behind

As I run towards

My destiny

Which takes me farther away

From you

I am meant for more

Than your limited mind

Could see me through

I choose to step into the unknown

And you couldn’t meet me

there

this time.

Its ok

I can

I am happier free

And alone

Than together

And limited

Perhaps in the next life

we can be free

Together.
