****SPOILER ALERT****

I have to admit I was hesitant to see Wonder Woman, thinking it would be another sensationalized attempt to have a positive, strong female lead but end up having a woman with surface-level thoughts and emotions. I don't think this movie fell into that, and it did so, not glaringly, but effortlessly. For the most part, it was sensationalized and some of the story line didn't make sense, but it was probably true to the story. The Amazonian women were not hyper-sexualized and portrayed as generally badass women with a clear purpose, to protect man from Aries, the god of war.

It was engaging, visually pleasing and included a great post twist in the end where the real Aries is revealed to be someone you least expected it to be. There was a moment in the final fight between Diana (Wonder Woman) and Aries that seemed an exact replica of that moment in Star Wars where Darth Vader tries to tempt Luke to the dark side by encouraging him to give in to his emotions and kill from a place of anger.

Diana and Luke of course choose to not give in. For Luke, he was not giving in to the dark side, anger, hate, jealousy. For Diana, it was the same, but in Wonder Woman they took the message a step further to have her recognize that humans, with all their flaws were still beautiful and worth saving and that love was the reason for that. She also talks about how all humans contain both darkness and light within. Hello! Truth! Thank you for stating this so clearly in a mainstream film!

The final fight scene was the quinticcential good vs. evil with Aries representing jealousy, hate, violence. Diana, fueled by the sacrifice of her first human lover/sidekick killing himself in order to blow up a plane full of bombs on autopilot to London, represents justice, hope, love, and pure Kali badass feminine energy.

VERDICT: I would definitely recommend seeing this if you think you may have been an Amazonian princess in a past life and want to live vicariously through a movie and want to see good triumph over evil and get the message that LOVE IS THE ANSWER from someone as gorgeous as Gal Gadot.
