I'm almost done with my travel to Bangkok! I'm tired, exhilarated and running off of green tea, black tea and coffee and little cat naps. My morning started at 4:30am with an Uber ride to the Portland Airport. Normally I get to my gate right as it's starting to board, but today I was an hour early...and then my flight was delayed by an hour. I barely slept last night, up packing and cleaning.

My first flight to San Francisco landed with 10 minutes for me to get to the gate for my next flight. I booked it. I sprinted the entire way, pushing through my burning lungs, telling myself, you will be sitting on your ass for 10 hours soon, deal with it, you CAN'T miss your flight! There is something really fun about dodging in and out of throngs of people. It pleases me to find the shortcuts through the crowds and I was thinking in the back of my head...this is what people do on The Amazing Race...I would be so good at that!

I made it at 11:30am, the cutoff for boarding. I boarded the plane and then we proceeded to wait for over an hour for the rest of the connecting flights to arrive so all the passengers could board. Gah! At least I got in a run and I had a longer layover in the next city. The flight from San Francisco to Tokyo was a little over 10 hours. Even though I had fairly slept the night before I stayed awake during the flight to try to acclimate to Bangkok’s time zone. I knew I would be arriving late Wednesday night and I wanted to be tired when I got there.

I watched 5 movies...at least now I am thoroughly exhausted and when I sleep on the flight from Tokyo to Bangkok it will actually be the appropriate time to be sleeping! I watched Rouge One, Arrival, Collateral Beauty, Hacksaw Ridge, a little bit of Moonlight and Passengers. I really loved all of them except for Rouge One and Moonlight (maybe it was just too slow paced to keep my attention for my sleep deprived brain). Arrived in Tokyo about 3.5 hours before the last leg of my trip to Bangkok. I am going to pull out my travel yoga mat and do some yoga to stretch out my body after sitting for so long.

Random thoughts throughout my journey so far:

- bringing a water bottle is a great conscientious thing to do to save on plastic water bottles! More people need to do this!

- I need to bring more veggie snacks next time on flights...so...many...carbs!

- this super thin foldable travel yoga mat is the best $40 I've spent recently (recycled plastic)

- EVERYTHING in airports is so overpriced. I usually try to bring all my own food and try to never buy any souvenirs from airports

- airports are the BEST places to people-watch

- cat naps can do wonders when you feel so tired you think your brain is shutting down

- being super tired really helps you not feel so anxious about flying
